The Seine has been an integral component of the A-ROSA portfolio since 2017. The sailings set off from the global metropolis of Paris to Normandy, visiting Rouen and Vernon as well as Le Havre and the Côte d’Albâtre. On board A-ROSA VIVA, guests enjoy an all-round feel-good holiday thanks to the Premium All-Inclusive fare and can indulge in delicious buffets and treatments in the SPA-ROSA. Special highlights are the excursions to Monet’s Garden in Giverny and to the famous chalk cliffs of Étretat.
The Cruise Region Seine
The Seine seems to have adopted the Parisians’ laissez-faire attitude and flows leisurely towards Normandy. The landscape named after the “Norsemen”, the Vikings who landed around 1,200 years ago, is more than enticing and so Normandy is the subject of countless art pieces for good reason.
The French capital Paris is the gateway for cruises on the Seine. Centre of fashion and Mecca of art and culture, oasis for gourmets, metropolis of the media, of political and economic power, of education – Paris is everything and more. The Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, La Madeleine, Opéra, Louvre, Sacré-Coeur on Montmartre, Dôme des Invalides and Centre Pompidou are just a few of the sights in the city of love.
From the fast-paced but no less romantic Paris, the route leads to Rouen in Normandy. The city where Joan of Arc met her end at the stake in 1431. But Rouen has far more to offer, with a history dating back to the 9th millennium BC. Today, many preserved and restored buildings bear witness to this period.
From Caudebec, day trips to the sophisticated seaside resort of Deauville, the fishing village of Honfleur or the Côte d’Albâtre in Étretat are just some of the possibilities. In Les Andelys a discovery tour through the small alleyways or a stroll to the castle complex of the famous Château Gaillard is a great idea.
From the small town of Vernon in the Seine Valley, guests can visit Claude Monet’s house in Giverny, whose impressive garden with its water lily pond inspired the painter’s art.
A-ROSA VIVA also calls at the port city Le Havre on the Atlantic coast. The city, which was destroyed in the Second World War, was rebuilt between 1945 and 1954 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005 thanks to its characteristic colourful concrete architecture.
The Seine cruises are complemented by an extensive excursion programme. In six different categories, guests can experience the destination with all their senses, go on an adventure tour, ride an e-bike through Rouen and to Monet’s Garden in Giverny and savour fresh Normandy delicacies directly in the region. Exclusive excursions such as a a drive through Paris in a vintage 2CV or enjoying a cabaret show offer a personalised experience and are tailored to the guests’ wishes. Additional family excursions to Disneyland Paris will capture the hearts of children.
