Rostock, 02 February 2026 – A considerable sum of donations was raised during the traditional New Year’s Eve Raffle on board the A-ROSA ships at the turn of the year. This year, the Rahe Family Foundation, the NABU River Fund and the OSKAR children’s hospice service can look forward to receiving a donation cheque. The raffle is an important part of the A-ROSA New Year’s Eve cruises, with all proceeds going to charitable causes, and marks the start of a year-round social commitment by the company and its guests.

Madlen Grolle-Döhring, on-site manager of the OSKAR children’s hospice service, was personally presented with a cheque for 4,500 euros by A-ROSA CEO Rolf-Dieter Maltzahn: “Our services for families with a seriously ill child are tailored to their wishes. Under our roof, families find space to meet, share experiences and support each other. However, what most families lack is a longer break together – a time when everyone can enjoy some quality moments for themselves. That is why we are planning a weekend getaway, to which we would like to warmly invite our families. This new offer requires a lot of organisation – and financial resources. We want to use the donation for this very purpose. Because we know that when people relax, they recharge their batteries for what life demands of them.” The aim of the OSKAR children’s hospice and family support service is to assist families with seriously ill children and children who are terminally ill in their difficult everyday lives. The support is provided by specially trained volunteers.

“Our New Year's Eve Raffle clearly shows how much power there is in joint commitment. Together with our guests, we are once again supporting valuable initiatives,” comments Rolf-Dieter Maltzahn, CEO of A-ROSA. “The OSKAR children’s hospice service also contributes significantly to the community. We were truly moved by the idea of the planned weekend getaway, which is why our company decided to top up our guests’ donations by an additional 1,500 euros. It is important to live up to our responsibility, especially beyond individual actions,” Maltzahn continues.

That social engagement at A-ROSA is not limited to the turn of the year was also evident throughout 2025. For example, the company supported numerous events with travel vouchers, including the Citizens’ Brunch in Rostock, raffles held by local football club SV Warnemunde and the “Night of the Hanseatics” organised by the Rostock Business Association. A-ROSA will continue to support other social events and initiatives in 2026, including the German “Ball of Sports”.
