Rostock, 26. August 2020 – Applying a bespoke health and hygiene concept, A-ROSA River Cruises successfully resumed operations in mid-June across its network of European rivers. Since its restart, A-ROSA notices an increase of bookings from guests who traditionally booked ocean cruises but, given the current limitations of ocean cruising, opted for a river cruise instead.

One of these river cruise novices is cruise blogger Fabian Betzendahl, who spontaneously decided to book an A-ROSA Danube cruise. “River cruising is indeed a great alternative to ocean cruising,” Fabian explains. “The benefits of cruising, such as unpacking once and exploring exciting destinations along the way and listening to the soothing sound of water remain the same. River cruises also offer ample of choice to engage in indoor and outdoor activities and to indulge in gourmet culinary delights. Generally, I cruise on ocean liners, but I thoroughly enjoyed the pleasures of river cruising,” Fabian concludes.

River cruise lines have the added advantage of utmost route planning flexibility. A-ROSA immediately alters its routing and ports of call to avoid any potential infection risk for its guests and crew, should there be a sudden increase of infection rates in a particular region. Guests’ ability to step ashore and discover destinations either individually or as part of a guided shore excursion is therefore not impacted.

“The wellbeing of our guests and crew is our highest priority and we are fully aware how critical an effective hygiene concept is,” says Jörg Eichler, CEO A-ROSA River Cruises. “Our stringent health measures provide our guests with peace of mind and allow them to enjoy relaxing holidays on board of our ships. Guests feel safe on board, no doubt an important factor that contributes to the increase in demand for our city and nature cruises,” he concludes.
